1st Arrondissement / Right Bank (mostly)
Reputation: Heart of Paris and actually the least populated of the twenty arrondissements, given the central location it’s packed with historical sights which now have become tourist must-sees. The central arrondissement spans over from the left bank to some parts of the right bank and includes the western tip of Île de la Cité, including the gorgeous Sainte-Chapelle and the Conciergerie which used to be a prison but is today mostly used for law courts. The Louvre and Tuileries Gardens also take up a large part of the arrondissement. This arrondissement is the essence of luxury with high-end shopping street Rue Saint Honoré, several Palace Hotels and upscale Vendôme Square all located here.
Don’t miss: The Louvre, Tuileries Garden, Les Arts Décoratifs, Les Halles, Palais Royal, Hôtel Ritz Paris, Pont Neuf, Place Vendôme, Palais-Royal, Place de la Concorde and Rue de Rivoli.
