3rd Arrondissement / Right Bank
Reputation: The quieter part of Le Marais (see 4th arrondissement) and old Jewish quarter.
The 3rd arrondissement covers part of the Marais and the old Jewish quarter. Another small and super trendy arrondissement which in Yiddish is called “the Pletzel” meaning the “little place.” This ancient Jewish quarter now hubs hip boutiques and bars but on Rue des Rosiers you’ll find lots of traditional Jewish foods and lots of cheap and yummy falafels. The 3rd arr. is also home to the oldest private house of Paris built in 1407 on rue de Montmorency.
Don’t miss: Musée des Arts et Métiers (Museum of Arts and Crafts), The Swedish Institute which has a lovely garden in the summer and often cool exhibitions on. Musée Picasso, Musée d’Art et d’Histoire du Judaïsme (Jewish History Museum), Les Archives Nationales (The National Archives) and Rue des Rosiers.
