Exploring “Nouvelle Athènes”
Constance & Claire are both Parisians and globetrotters at heart. Having worked and travelled all over the world they decided to share their passion for foreign cultures and cuisines with Parisians in the “So Many Paris” blog which since become hugely successful and won Best Blog award at the Paris Golden Blog Awards 2016. They know Paris by heart and will let you discover the hidden gems of one of Paris most fascinating areas.
We will explore the “Nouvelle Athènes” neighbourhood far from the touristic clichés of Paris. “Nouvelle Athènes” has retained much of the charm and character of the 19th century and the Belle Epoque – when it was the intellectual heart of Paris. True to the Parisian “art de vivre”, we’ll not only feed our minds by getting to know the stories from this part of the 9th arr. but also our bellies in the bustling Rue des Martyrs, with lip-licking French pastries, chocolates and delicious Madeleines. We’ll then finish our day in an exquisite hidden garden and tea salon with a drink of your choice.
We’ll meet the Notre-Dame-de-Lorette metro station, in front of the newspaper stand. We’ll then discover the “Nouvelle Athènes” neighbourhood, learn about the architecture and history, stop at several shops on rue des Martyrs, and visit the small Musée de la Vie Romantique.
A two hour guided tour of the Nouvelle-Athènes, choux, chocolate, Madeleine cakes, 1 drink of your choice.
